Republican State Senator Glenn Hegar brings an unmatched conservative record and years of fiscal experience to the race for Texas Comptroller. He is the youngest member of the Texas Senate and a sixth generation Texan who is pro-second amendment and pro-taxpayer. And no one can touch his pro-life record.
As Chairman of the Subcommittee on Fiscal Matters, the committee charged with reviewing all state and local revenue matters, Glenn was responsible for cutting $1 billion in taxes during the 83rd legislative session for Texas taxpayers and businesses. He will be a vigilant steward of our tax dollars and a strong advocate for our growing economy.
Prior to the 83rd legislature, Glenn served as Chairman of the influential Sunset Advisory Commission, which is a vital process that identifies and eliminates waste, duplication, and inefficiency in government agencies. While Glenn was Chairman, he abolished six state agencies saving the state of Texas millions of dollars.
As a public servant, Glenn has a proven track record of fighting for conservative principles. He has authored and sponsored some of the most important legislation in recent Texas history. Notably, Glenn fought to pass House Bill 2, which is widely recognized as the toughest pro-life legislation in United States history for its protections for the unborn and for improving women’s healthcare in Texas. Glenn is also an avid defender of the 2nd Amendment. He fought for several legislative sessions to ensure that every hard working Texan and college student has the right to store their legally owned firearms in their personal vehicles while at work or on college campuses.
Glenn is a true conservative who strongly defends the values of faith, family, and freedom. In a few short years, he has reduced government inefficiencies, saved taxpayer dollars, and provided common sense solutions to problems facing everyday Texans.
Glenn and his wife Dara reside in Katy where they attend St. Peter's United Methodist Church and are the proud parents of their three young children.
